For the first 6 weeks after delivery it\u2019s intended for the mother exclusively; later on, it can be received by the father provided he meets the requirements mentioned below. The amount of the benefit is calculated based on the person\u2019s income, and the time period for the payment can be as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting from 8-6 week before the due date, for the total amount of 28 weeks (37 weeks with twins).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting from the baby\u2019s birth date, for the total amount of 22 weeks (31 week with twins).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting from 6 weeks after the baby is born,\u00a0 for the total amount of 22 weeks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can\u2019t receive the maternity benefit for less than 14 weeks, and it can\u2019t be ended earlier than 6 weeks after delivery.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sum of the benefit is calculated as 70% of the reduced daily assessment base per calendar day. The daily assessment base is usually calculated based on the income within the previous 12 months. For self-employed people, it\u2019s calculated based on the monthly insurance premiums during the assessed period of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maximum amount of the benefit for 2024 is 53,910 CZK per month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can use this calculator to calculate the approximate amount: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penize.cz\/kalkulacky\/materska#materska\">https:\/\/www.penize.cz\/kalkulacky\/materska#materska<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Conditions and Application Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The maternity benefit is a part of the sickness insurance. This type of insurance shouldn\u2019t be confused with health insurance used to cover medical expenses. The sickness insurance is paid by the employer as part of the social insurance. Self-employed persons are entitled to maternity benefit only if they have been voluntarily paying the sickness insurance premiums for a specific amount of time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To qualify for the benefit, two conditions must be met: 1. The applicant must have sickness insurance covered for the benefit at the time of commencing the benefit or the protective period must still be in effect. 2. The period of sickness insurance before starting the benefit must have lasted at least 270 days in the last two years. In the case of self-employed persons, an additional condition must be met: 3. A minimum period of 180 days of sickness insurance in the last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If these conditions are met, visit your gynecologist during pregnancy, who will issue an application indicating the expected date of birth. This date will determine the start of maternity leave and the maternity benefit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019d need to submit this form to your employer, and then it\u2019ll be passed on to the relevant authorities. If you wish, or if you are self-employed, you can send the application form directly to the Czech Social Security Administration (CSSA\/ \u010cSSZ). The CSSA has a month to process your application.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While receiving maternity benefit, working in the same job position for the same employer is not allowed. However, you can work in a different position or for a different employer. After the maternity benefit and maternity leave end, the woman has the right to return to her previous workplace in the same job position.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper. This consists of 14 days of paid leave, which can be taken within 6 weeks after the child\u2019s birth. If the child or mother is hospitalized within the first 6 weeks, the period during which this leave can be taken is extended by the length of the hospitalization.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The condition for receiving paternity benefit is having sickness insurance, same as with the maternity benefit. The amount is equivalent to 70% of the reduced daily assessment base per calendar day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The application is submitted to CSSA using the corresponding form. The father will hand in the form to the employer, who will pass it on to the CSSA at the end of the paternity leave. The sum will be paid out the following month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper. It is always paid only for the youngest child. The minimum period for receiving the parental allowance is 6 months, and the maximum period is 3 or 4 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The state pays the parental allowance to everyone regardless of previous employment or insurance. However, for foreigners, the type and duration of residence are taken into account. From 1.1.2024, the total amount of the allowance is 350,000 CZK for one child and 525,000 CZK for twins. These amounts apply only to children born after 1.1.2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The payment is made monthly, with the monthly sum chosen by the parents It can be changed every three months but can\u2019t exceed the sum of the monthly maternity benefit payment, which is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">53,910 CZK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Generally, the parental allowance comes after maternity benefit, but in case the parents weren\u2019t eligible for maternity benefit, the parental allowance can be received right after the child is born. In this case the maximum monthly payment is 13 000 K\u010d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for one child or\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">19 500 K\u010d for twins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are no work restrictions associated with receiving the parental allowance. Full-time work is therefore permitted in this case, as long as childcare is provided.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Podm\u00ednky a pod\u00e1n\u00ed \u017e\u00e1dosti:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In case of non-EU nationals, to claim the parental allowance you need to meet the following conditions:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have a child younger than 3 or 4 years old<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have a residential address in the territory of the Czech Republic<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have one of the following types of residence: permanent residence \/ asylum \/ subsidiary protection \/ long-term residence over 365 days<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the child should either be born in the Czech Republic or have legal residence in CR for over 365 days<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The parental allowance application is submitted to the local\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uradprace.cz\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Labour Office<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0either in person, by post or electronically. The application is submitted 60 days before the end of maternity benefit at earliest and 3 months after the baby is born at latest in case you didn\u2019t receive maternity benefit. Along with the application form, you\u2019d need to enclose residence permits of all the family members, the baby\u2019s birth certificate, the rent agreement, the employment contract, the insurance card, the paediatrician\u2019s certificate, the hospital stay forms and the standard EU benefits form<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper.
